Starting small on purpose
We launched with nine festivals. Not because we couldn't find more, but because a directory full of festivals with zero ratings isn't useful to anyone. We'd rather have a small list with substance — the list grows with the community, not ahead of it.

Ratings that consider everything
A festival can have a stacked lineup but a brutal sound system. Or an amazing vibe but logistical nightmares. We capture all of it.
- Get a breakdown of the lineup, crowd, production and logistics for every rating.
- The Overall Experience score captures how it actually felt, even if the breakdown says different.
- Rating notes let you say what numbers can't — context, tips, the stuff you'd tell a friend.
Recent editions matter more
Festivals change over time, for the better and sometimes for the worse. BeatBash ratings reflect that.
- Ratings for each festival are weighted so that recent editions have more influence than older ones.
- Older editions still matter, they don't just disappear. You can see how a festival has evolved over time.
- Every rating is tagged with the year you went, so you can easily find ratings from your favourite editions.
How Ratings Work
A few questions that come up about rating categories, scores and how we calculate them.
The festival's main score is the weighted average of every Overall Experience rating, on a scale of 1-10. Ratings for this year's edition count for more than older ones, so the score reflects what the festival is now. The older years still matter, they just have less of an influence as the years go on.
Lineup & Programming, Crowd & Atmosphere, Sound & Production, Logistics & Organization, and Overall Experience. These are the main pillars of a festival and together, they give you the full picture — not just whether it was "good", but what was good about it.
Overall Experience is the only score that doesn't measure one specific thing. It represents as a whole how the festival made you feel and the lasting impression it left on you. It's the score we use to calculate the festival's main rating, while the other four categories give you a breakdown to support it.
We're growing the list deliberately, starting with festivals our community is most likely to attend. If you don't see one you've been to, request it and we'll add it. The earlier we know about it, the sooner you can rate it.
Yes. You can and should submit a rating for each edition you attend. Each rating is tagged with the year you went so you can easily find ratings from different years.
You can edit a rating within 7 days of submitting it, but you'll always be able to delete it.
How we moderate
We're always reviewing ratings and removing anything that breaks the House Rules. We're here for honest takes, not personal attacks.
Honest takes only
- We review ratings manually. Anything that goes against the House Rules gets removed.
- You can also report any rating that you feel crosses a line.
- No hate, no harassment, no threats.
Your info stays yours
- Ratings show your display name, which can be your real name, a nickname, or whatever you choose.
- You can change your display name and/or username from your account settings.
- Edit your rating within 7 days of submitting it. Ratings can always be deleted.
